Team Anna on Thursday said it would launch an anti-UPA agitation in poll-bound states, including Uttar Pradesh, if the government failed to get an effective Lokpal Bill passed in the winter session of Parliament.

"If the UPA government fails to bring a Lokpal Bill in Parliament or if it is brought in a shape that leaves much to be desired, Anna and his supporters will launch an anti-UPA stir in all states, including UP, where assembly polls are due next year," Team Anna member Manish Sisodia told reporters in Allahabad.

Sisodia was at Allahabad in connection with a two-day workshop organised by the Team Anna.

Replying to a question, he said If Anna were to support any political party he would do so openly.

"If any party tries to derive political mileage out of Anna's popularity by using his posters and invoking his name in campaigns, the people are wise enough to see through the design.

"Gimmicks will no longer win votes," Sisodia said.

On the incident at the venue of a rally addressed by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi earlier this week in UP, he said "it is unfortunate the Congress which proudly flaunts its association with Mahatma Gandhi now has such people as its members who are intolerant of any form of protest."
