As per reports from Azamgarh, quoting police sources, Shehzad arrested by anti-terror team at Khalispur village of Billariaganj area of Azamgarh, Shehzad, was brought by a team of Delhi Police to Azamgarh on Monday and stayed at Azamgarh till Tuesday.

While officials of Azamgarh Police are tight-lipped over the entire episode, police sources confided that Shehzad was brought to Azamgarh by cops from national capital, to cross check confessions and information given by him during interrogation.

If sources are to be believed, the team from national capital zipped in three MUVs to the Sanjarpur village under Saraimeer area late on Tuesday night.

Sanjarpur is the village to which two of the IM ultras Atif Amin and Sajid (killed in Sep 19, 2008 encounter at Batla House in New Delhi) belonged to.

One of the many youths from Azamgarh arrested in the wake of serial blasts at Delhi, Gujarat and Jaipur during 2008, including Mohd Saif, also hail from Sanjapur village only.

While the team from New Delhi reportedly carried Shehzad to Sanjarpur village, it did not take the IM ultra, to either of his two houses at Khalispur village in Billariaganj or the one at Jalandhari locality of Azamgarh Kotwali.

Residents of Jalandhari locality confided on Thursday to HT that while some plain clothed men had visited the locality at around 10 pm on Tuesday night and they did not carry Shehzad.

When contacted Shehzad’s mother and other members of the family denied that their arrested son was brought to them either on Monday or Tuesday.

Shehzad, on the run since Batla House encounter, has reportedly confessed after his arrest, about shooting at Delhi Police (Special Cell) Inspector MC Sharma during the Batla House encounter and could be having vital clues regarding the recent Pune blasts also.
