India and China will sign an agriculture cooperation agreement during the forthcoming visit of Chinese Agriculture Minister Du Qinglin, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi said on Saturday.

"The cabinet has approved a proposal for signing the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with China on cooperation in the field of agriculture," Dasmunsi told the media after a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

The Chinese agriculture minister will visit India March 26-30.

Valid for five years and renewable for another five years, the MoU will seek to promote bilateral cooperation through joint activities and exchanges in agriculture.

It also envisages exchange of scientific delegations and experts.
