Indian astrologer killed in Lanka violence

Venkataswamy Venkataraman of Bangalore was killed in the on-going ethnic rioting in Trincomalee, reports PK Balachandran.

Venkataswamy Venkataraman, a 30-year-old astrologer from Ramamurthy Nagar in Bangalore, was killed in the on-going ethnic rioting in the Eastern Sri Lankan port town of Trincomalee.

Tamilnet website said that Venkarataraman was among three killed on Friday.

Meanwhile Tamil sources said that eight army personnel were killed in a claymore mine blast in Vavunuya on Saturday.

In the troubled Mahindapuram area of Trincomalee, both Tamil and Sinhala families were migrating to safer places following inter-ethnic violence, killings and arson for the last few days.
