Singapore seems to be fast becoming second home for most Indian designers. After designer Jatinn Kochchar visited it last season, Rocky S, Anshu Arora Sen and Savio Jon were selected to show at the Singapore Fashion Festival in March 2007 after doing the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai.

And while we’re not sure if the LFW crowd will be recalling their invitation now that Rocky is showing at the opposing WIFW, a source tells us Mumbai designer Azeem Khan is headed for Singapore.

Khan will shipp out a ‘new couture range’ for Singapore rather than the now famous Indian technique of creating a collection for the desi fashion weeks and then pimping them on the international runway.

“It’s a complete couture collection aimed at the international market, not just the eastern markets. It’s going to be essentially eveningwear in nudes, whites, blacks with a splash of colour,” Khan explains. He’s just returned from Bali, where he showed and from where he plans to ship some pieces to Singapore.

Khan will participate at the Singapore Fashion Week in Labels Asia 2006 (LA 2006) to be held there from November 2 to 4.

LA 2006, an international trade exhibition, is one of the key highlights of the Singapore Fashion Week 2006, which itself seems to have had its fair share of controversy – it was formerly known as the Asia Fashion Week, then re-named AFW and is now called Labels Asia, and is touted as a B2B fashion exhibition created exclusively for trend-setting brands and labels.
