Indian minister to leave for Dhaka

Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil will leave for Dhaka on Wednesday to attend a meeting of Interior/Home Ministers of SAARC countries on May 11.

The meeting will discuss implementation of decisions taken by various SAARC summits to check terrorism, drug abuse, trafficking in women and children and money laundering.

Technical cooperation in police matters, training of police personnel of SAARC countries and strengthening of the existing structures of SAARC Terrorist Offences Monitoring Desk (STOMD) and SAARC Drug Offences Monitoring Desk (SDOMD) would also be deliberated at the meeting.

Union Home Secretary VK Duggal is already in Dhaka to attend the first meeting of Interior/Home Secretaries of SAARC countries, to be held on Wednesday.

A team of senior police officers from India is attending the Police meet, being held in Dhaka on Tuesday.
