Indians made a confident start as four of them returned with sparkling success in the Asian Tennis Champions qualifiers in Tashkent, Uzbekistan on Saturday.
Veteran Rushmi Chakravarthy led the women's charge by defeating local girl Shakhzoda Hatamova 6-1 6-4 in the first round.
Sandhya Nagraj scored a resounding 6-2 6-0 victory over Lola Azimova while Sanaa Bhambri was even better in her 6-1 6-0 drubbing of Diana Kuchkarova.
Both the losers were from the host country.
In men's section, Mustafa Ghouse entered the second round with a 6-2 6-2 win over Djanibek Orazaliev, also of Uzbekistan.
Ravishankar Pathanjali, Vishnuvardhan and Isha Lakhani will play their first round matches tomorrow.
Karan Rastogi, Vivek Shokeen, Shikha Uberoi and Ankita Bhambri have direct entries into the main draw which starts on Monday.
The singles champions of the USD 100,000 event will each be awarded a main draw wild card of the Australian Open Grand Slam.
