IndiGo, SpiceJet to lose extra slots

The DGCA is all set to take away the additional slots of flights allotted to IndiGo and SpiceJet in the winter schedule. The reason: the airlines have failed to utilise the slots so far.

The DGCA is all set to take away the additional slots of flights allotted to IndiGo and SpiceJet in the winter schedule. The reason: the airlines have failed to utilise the slots so far.

"An airline has to utilise all its slots from the day the schedule is approved. The argument that they will add more flights as and when they induct more aircraft does not hold water. Their slots would be given to other airlines like Jet Airways, Air India and GoAir and whosoever wants them," said a senior official who refused to be quoted.
