Suharto turns 85 in June and is currently recovering in hospital from intestinal surgery.

Due to his apparent mental condition following a stroke, he has avoided standing trial over wealth he is accused of illegally amassing during his three-decade rule.

Media reports here said that President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono had already decided to drop the case and was only considering how to proceed technically.

But presidential spokesman Andi Mallarangeng said that no decision had yet been made by Yudhoyono.

"The president only sought inputs and suggestion from everyone and has ordered officials to gather the necessary documents so that he can decide what should be done," Mallarangeng said.
