Teachers engaged in invigilation duty during university examination have refused to accept honorarium on the current scales. A decision to this effect was taken by the Madhya Pradesh Shaskiya Mahavidyalayeen Shikshak Sangh in its annual general meeting held at Government Arts and Commerce College (GACC) today.

Sangh president Dr Ashok Jain and secretary Nirmala Mishra said that an increase in honorarium had been effected well before the beginning of exams by Rani Durgawati University (Jabalpur), Barkatullah University (Bhopal), Vikram University (Ujjain), Jiwaji University (Gwalior) and others in the State.

However, Devi Ahilya Vishwa Vidyalaya (DAVV), which boasted of being the best in the Statem, had done nothing concrete on this issue and the Vice Chancellor had only given teachers’ delegations assurances and promises that had not been kept so far.

The meeting also decided that until the University coordination committee took a decision to make an agreeable increase in the honorarium they would not accept the current rates.

Jain warned that if a decision were not taken in this regard by the committee soon they would be forced to take up other measures and pursue recourse that could affect the conduct of the impending examination.
