THE GWALIOR City police today nabbed an operative of Pakistani intelligence agency ISI. He was identified as Majid Khan (26), son of Nasir Khan hailing from Rahimyar Khan in Punjab province of Pakistan.

He was staying in a rented house in Brijvihar Colony under Inderganj police station area. He posed himself as Madho Singh, son of Ved Prakash of Bulandshahar (UP) and had gradually won the confidence of neighbours.

Inspector General of Police Sanjay Rana told reporters here today that Majid alias Madho Singh was sent to Gwalior by ISI to gather information on vital Air Force and Army bases. Whether or not he succeeded in his job could be ascertained only after a thorough interrogation.

However, the police have recovered from him some important documents including maps, details of Army bases and photographs etc, said Rana.

The police will seek his remand for further interrogation. Rana said that Majid had undergone intense training under ISI in Pakistan and was first sent to India in January 2005. He visited Delhi and nearby places to acquaint self with the country.
Thereafter, in August 2005, he was sent to Mumbai, Bulandshahar and Muradabad etc. Finally, he landed in Gwalior to execute the mission to gather information on vital military establishments.

Majid had prepared two fake driving licences in his name, one each from Moradabad and Gwalior. He had also managed to procure a fake ration card and mark-sheet to support his driving licence formalities.

Majid was getting instructions from some Fayaz in Punjab province of Pakistan. The police have also seized a mobile phone from his possession with Idea and AirTel sim card. Rana complemented his team for nabbing an ISI ‘sleeper’. This is the second major catch for the police since the year 2002 when one Pak secret agent was arrested for nefarious activities.
