J&K orders 124 illegal nurisng homes to close

In a crackdown on unauthorised healthcare establishments in Jammu and Kashmir, the state government has directed 124 unregistered nursing homes and clinics to close down within a week, official sources said.
"The owners of 124 unregistered nursing homes and clinics have been served with notices to close down their establishments within a period of seven days from Thursday as per notification issued by director health services," the sources said.
Besides, a direction has also been issued to chief medical officers and block medical officers to ensure sealing of the all the unauthorised establishments, they added.
Out of the 124 illegal nursing homes and clinics, 56 are located in Jammu, followed by 27 in Doda district, 17 in Kathua district and 13 in Rajouri district, they said.
Irate over the decision, a spokesman of the nursing homes and clinics association said that the move was anti-people.
"If the government cannot provide employment and jobs to the unemployed youth, they have not right to snatch their bread and butter," he said, adding they would resort to agitation over the issue.
