The teacher was an invigilator and allegedly forced himself on to the victim when other students had left the exam hall on Wednesday.

Police registered a case against the teacher, Surinder Kumar Sharma of Thaplal in Ramnagar, on Thursday and arrested him a day later. Sharma has been remanded in three-day police custody, Udhampur senior superintendent of police Benam Posh said.

The victim alleged that when other students had left the exam hall, Sharma came to her and offered help. A few minutes later, the teacher allegedly tried to rape her. However, the student raised the alarm and ran out of the exam hall.
