"We had recently revised the tax structure to mobilise revenue around Rs 4000 crore. If the Centre had allotted even Rs 10000 crore of the Rs 2.5 lakh crore, there would have been no need to revise the taxes," she said, intervening during a debate in the Tamil Nadu Assembly.

She said that she had made a plea to the Centre for a special component plan of Rs 2.5 lakh crore.

The chief minister has been attacking the Centre consistently, saying it had not granted funds to the state even while downsizing its share of kerosene.

Tamil Nadu government had recently revised tax structures to meet its revenue even as it had accused the previous DMK government of putting the state in a debt burden of over Rs one lakh crore.
