Janata Party President Dr Subramanian Swamy has said all patriotic and secular forces should rally behind PM-designate Manmohan Singh.

Janata Party President Dr Subramanian Swamy on Thursday said all patriotic and secular forces should rally behind Prime Minister-designate Dr Manmohan Singh.

Welcoming the Congress leader's appointment, Swamy said Singh was an erudite scholar of economics and "a honest politician with a quiet unstated determination to do the right thing".

The partners in United Progressive Alliance had a special responsibility not to "plug their pet and outdated economic ideas and seek to shackle Dr Singh's efforts to further reforms the economic system within the framework of human dignity," Swamy said.
