After three decades and many successes later in his life, Jauhari sat back to talk to HT WE about his life in the fast lane and the joy of being, (Ah! Ha!) a Lucknowite!

“I go out with my wife for a movie twice a week and the interesting aspect of my life has been that although all my old friends in Lucknow are equally busy, we meet regularly and have a wonderful time in this city where I have studied and grown up,” he says.

Jauhari is as active in his other endeavours outside his professional environment being the Secretary of the Lucknow Management Association (LMA). He’s also been on the board of the Rotary Club.

“I have been a member of the Lucknow Golf Club and still go for a round of golf at times. I am now learning swimming because I believe that physical fitness matters. The morning walks at the NBRI garden have been a regular habit for me for the past 12 years.” he says.

The Jauharis are very popular in the Lucknow elite social circuit. “My wife is a lecturer in English and we both try to find sufficient time to meet friends in Lucknow. Our only son is studying engineering in Bangalore and I am delighted to see a dramatic change in his personality since he moved to a metro to do his engineering course,” says Jauhari.

On his choice of books, the motivational stuff interests him more than fiction. “I am currently reading a book by Khalil Gibran which is very absorbing,” he tells you.

Interestingly, the Jauhari couple recently went on a cruise. Jauhari recalls, “It was one of the most fascinating experiences of my life. Being on a vacation on a cruise liner is altogether a different experience. We really enjoyed it thoroughly.”

“I have travelled to the United States, Italy, Russia and Germany on myriad official assignments. But travelling on a holiday to an exotic destination really unwinds you whether you travel in India or abroad!”

Anant Jauhari has a special attachment to his city. He says, “Lucknow is undergoing a gradual transformation. You have so many good educational institutions in Lucknow but I still believe that many more aspects of the quality of life in Lucknow must change for the better.”

And, his philosophy in life? “I religiously follow the vision of late Chairman of Reliance Group Dhirubhai Ambani that one must think big in life.

The other thing I have always admired about the great visionary was his simple living.

It will be the beacon light for me all my life,” he adds.
