Juhu rave case: 81 more nailed

The final chemical analysis report from the Forensic Science Laboratory in Kalina will help the Anti-Narcotic Cell (ANC) book 81 more young people attending a rave party in Juhu in October under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Based on specific information that a rave party in which narcotic substances like charas, ganja, Ecstasy, LSD and cocaine were being sold by some drug peddlers, sleuths of the ANC had raided a Juhu restaurant-and-bar called Bombay-72 Degree East and booked 246 people, including 15 prime accused.
Police officials had recovered narcotic substances worth lakhs in the illegal drugs market from the key accused.
While two initial chemical analysis reports had nailed 146 persons for drug use, the third and final report held 81 of the 83 remaining persons had indulged in consumption of narcotic substances.
The ANC will now book 227 of the 246 people present at the Juhu rave under the NDPS Act.
Police officials said 107 people had consumed the drug commonly known on the streets as Ecstasy, which was 95 per cent pure while others had tested positive for charas and ganja.
Till date, 90 young people besides the 15 arrested people had surrendered. Legal action against the remaining had been initiated.
The case:
The Anti-Narcotic Cell busted a rave party at Juhu restaurant-and-bar, Bombay-72 Degree East, on October 6 and booked 231 revellers along with some drug peddlers.
The drugs seized were 249 grams of charas worth Rs 15,000, 88 ecstasy pills worth Rs 88,000, 8.5 millilitre of LSD worth Rs 8.5 lakh and 13 gm of marijuana.
The first two chemical analysis reports had nailed 146 people for drug use.
