PEEVED OVER what they alleged as biased action by the police and district administration following the fracas in Khajrana last night, the Congress party leaders today demanded immediate suspension of Khajrana TI, arrest of BJP leader Osman Patel, dropping of charges against Congress leader Ayaz Guddu (both have been booked under Section 307 of IPC) and also a thorough inquiry into all government land that has been grabbed by Osman Patel.

Last night, trouble started in the Khizrabad area of Khajrana when Ayaz Guddu’s elder brother Fayaz had a tiff with a close supporter of Osman Patel when the latter’s car was parked in such a manner that Fayaz found it impossible to move his car.

Apparently, Fayaz and his men slapped Osman’s supporter and then went away. Subsequently, according to Congressmen, Osman and 30 to 40 of his supporters attacked Ayaz and his supporters in which five persons were said to be injured.
Firearms and petrol bombs were allegedly used during the attack.

The agitated Congressmen led by City Congress president Ujagar Singh, MLA Ashwin Joshi, Mahila Congress president Shobha Oza, former Minister Lalit Jain, Kripa Shankar Shukla, senior City Congress vice-president K K Mishra, Pramod Tandon, Ayaz Guddu among others alleged that even though it was Osman Patel and his men who attacked Ayaz Guddu and his supporters, the police were unwilling to register case under Section 307 IPC (attempted murder) against Osman Patel and others.

The injuries suffered by Guddu’s men in the attack were serious, they claimed. The Congress leaders alleged that they had gheraoed the police station and it was only due to their pressure that the cases were registered.

However, just to favour the BJP, the police also slapped Section 307 against Guddu, who was the aggrieved party. Ujagar Singh alleged that apart from damaging Guddu’s new car, the assailants had also looted Rs 2.5 lakh kept in the car.

He also said that the police charge that Guddu’s men had damaged Osman’s car was false. Osman’s men had themselves damaged the car on being ‘prompted’ by the police just to fudge the facts, he charged.

“What happened in Kharjana was just a trailer of what is going to happen in future, where the police are working at the behest of the BJP.

It was only providence that saved people getting killed in yesterday’s attack,” said Shobha Oza. Ujagar Singh said that never in the 10-year rule of the Congress party had the police acted in such a partisan manner against the BJP. The Congressmen said that if such is the working of the police, then the department should be closed. “We are competent enough to give a fitting reply to the BJP,” warned Lalit Jain.
