Khurshid was addressing a public meeting at the Imamabara late on Saturday evening. During the Sajajik Chetna Rally, he said these three parties would contest elections with the Congress in future. He called upon people to uproot the present State Government. He appealed to people to ensure the victory of Congress candidates in the local bodies’ election.

He criticised the Mulayam Government for scheduling the election process during Ramzan. He said the government had no respect, either for Hindus or Muslims. It had declared the election during the festival seasons of both the communities in October, he added.

He said after the forthcoming assembly election, the Congress would form its government with the help of its new allies, particularly the Bharatiya Samaj Party and the Rashtriya Samanta Dal. He said the party would launch a jail bharo movement against the State Government’s wrong policies.

“The Congress is the only option for betterment of the people of the State. The people of UP have started realising this fact. This is clear from the large turnout at the rallies of Congress president Sonia Gandhi at Kanpur and Bareilly,” he added. Senior Congress leader Pramod Tiwari said the Congress would form the next government in UP after the assembly election.

He also hit out at the BJP, saying the party not only deceived the people, but also God. He said people belonging to Rajbhar and Biyar castes would be given the status of Scheduled Tribes.

He alleged mafia elements had a say in present government of the State. Rajeshpati Tripathi addressed the people on the occasion. He said Bharatiya Samaj Party and Rashtriya Samanta Dal leaders had met Congress president Sonia Gandhi and demanded Scheduled Tribe status for Rajbhars and Biyars. Sonia Gandhi has promised to fulfill their demands.

All senior local Congress leaders were present on the occasion. Earlier, they accorded a warm welcome to Khurshid at several places.
