KOLKATA EMERGED the winner in the All India Inter SAI Women Hockey Tournament that concluded at SAI Centre on Tuesday. In the final, Kolkata convincingly defeated Sonipat by 5-0.

Maintaining its winning spree, Kolkata team won the final too. Team’s strong defense and aggressive forward line never allowed any opportunity to Sonipat team.
Playing with the strategy to keep the ball to the maximum possible time, Kolkata girls frustrated the opponents. The strategy paid the dividends for the team when Antika scored a field goal in the 13th minute. This was the beginning of an end for Sonipat team.
Munni scored second goal for the team through a penalty corner. First half ended with the score 2-20. The second half brought more trouble for the Sonipat as the team conceded three goals. Anara, Shashi and Suchitra were the scorers. Thanks to some good efforts by the defense of the Sonipat that the team restricted the defeat to 0-5.
Senior IPS officer Yashovardhan Azad, who was the chief guest at the prize distribution ceremony, distributed prizes to the teams.
Central Region SAI director AK Sharma and others were present.
