IN A shocking incident of fratricide, a lawyer accompanied by his associates allegedly abducted and killed his elder brother, who was also a lawyer.
The middle-aged man’s body was later thrown outside the Hamidia Hospital on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. He had been stabbed and bludgeoned to death near Regional Science Centre. The sensational incident occurred in Raitbad police station area.
Victim, RC Sahu, 58, a resident of Durga Chowk, Barkhedi was allegedly abducted by his younger brother Mukesh Sahu, a lawyer, and his accomplices. The deceased was also a lawyer. The brothers had an old property dispute and in the past too had clashes, police sources said.
According to police, RC Sahu, had gone to Ratibad along with his sons, Vikas, 25, and Akash, 28, on Wednesday evening. Sahu’s dumper is attached to a crusher in the area and he had gone to the village in this connection.
On his way back, their motorcycle was intercepted by the accused, Mukesh, Sunil Khatik and three others who were in a jeep. The assailants who were armed with knives and lathis beat up Vikas and Akash. As the brothers ran to save themselves, the assailants forcibly took away their middle-aged father. Meanwhile, the victim’s sons informed their family members about the abduction.
At around 2:30 am Sahu’s body was found lying near the gate of Hamidia Hospital. He was declared brought dead. The body bore several marks of injury and had been stabbed repeatedly.
The police launched a hunt for the assailants. SP Anant Kumar Singh said the accused, Mukesh Sahu, was arrested. Mukesh, 40, lives near Betwa apartment in TT Nagar police station area. He had grudge against his elder brother that the latter always ridiculed him and did not give him share in ancestral property.
During initial interrogation the accused said his elder brother had lot of money and this prompted him to commit the crime. The Ratibad police have registered a case of murder and abduction against the accused.
