Lolo?s in control
Mother-to-be Karisma?s happy with both her career and her married life.
“Nothing has changed after my marriage. Yeh sab purane zamane ki baatein hai,” answers Karisma assertively when asked whether marriage has changed her life in any way. Dressed in a baby pink top and blue jeans, her svelte figure remains the same too.

The actress, who pops in and out of the city, though she’s based here with husband Sunjay Kapur, a businessman, says she identifies with the concept of the new contemporary woman who can handle career and domestic responsibilities at the same time.
She shuttles between her house in Vasant Kunj in the capital and Mumbai, where she’s grown up and where her work is, but she’s used to the hectic pace now. One thing that she says she really misses in Mumbai is the winter season in Delhi. “I love Delhi winters, which are so unlike Mumbai where it’s never ever cold. But then I also miss my family and work in Mumbai,” she says, making sure that films remain her first love.
She says that she plans to continue doing films but may be a little more selective with her roles. She also doesn’t fail to mention that she’s happy for little sis Kareena whose career is going great guns. “I feel it takes guts to agree to do films like and .”
After being in the industry for more than a decade and doing a wide variety of roles, the actress in her decided to switch gears. But then came Karisma: The Miracle Of Destiny, the not so successful soap on Sahara TV. What was that like? “I think that the role I was offered was great so I couldn’t refuse. I’m happy that it’s completed 262 episodes and also relieved at the thought that it’s getting over next month. But I’ll miss the cast and crew,” she says.
Which is her favourite film? “I’d say Zubeida was beautiful – it was real magic. It had that period look and an interesting story to tell,” she says with a glow on her face. The glow could also be because she’s expecting her first baby early next year. About her impending motherhood, she says, “All I want is a healthy baby,” and smiles.
Both personally and professionally, her life seems to be looking up. As of now, there are talks going on for Khalid Mohammed’s next film. Then will come Zamanat and Mere Jeevan Saathi, which is due for a January release. What about TV again? “If I get a good script, why not?” she asks. But that’s in the future. Right now, she’s busy playing the perfect woman.
