Long and short of a wedding
Two-feet and two inches tall, Malayalam cine actor Ajith has tied the knot with a girl more than double his size.
Short, but he stands tall. Two-feet and two inches tall, Malayalam cine actor Ajith alias Unda Pakru has tied the knot the other day. Don’t think his wife is shorter than him. She is more than double his size, five-feet and three inches.
This world record holder (shortest cine actor) had a simple request to the priest, who performed the wedding rites at the Kumaranelloor Devi temple (Kottayam), that he would stand on his own while tying the knot. Readily agreed, the bride had to sit through the entire function in a sitting posture to fulfil his wish.
“Though it was an arranged marriage, it was love at first sight,” Pakru, a post-graduate, said. His wife Gayatri (22) is a graduate and has just finished her diploma in health inspector’s course.
Ajith is a superstar, who could stand shoulder to shoulder with other celebrity stars of Malayalam. With his sterling performance in Alabhutha Dweep (Wonder Land), he has virtually shaken the macho image of Malayalam moviedom. Hollywood celebrity director Ron Howard is now planning an English remake of the first all-dwarf movie.
