In fact, several cities lying south of Lucknow like Pune, Patna, Jaipur, or Ahmedabad are experiencing lower minimum temperature than Lucknow. Nagpur, Hyderabad and Bangalore, however, have minimum temperature similar to Lucknow.
“It is strange and perturbing. There is no moisture feed and the air is totally dry.
Temperatures are high—both maximum and minimum. There has not been a single foggy day this December. There has not been even a single winter shower or clouding so far,” said MET director, Mr KP Kulsreshtha.
But is there any factor to which the weatherman can attribute this strangeness of weather?
“There is sustained anti-cyclonic activity over Central India, and it had been preventing temperatures to fall. It is pushing temperatures high. Since the air is dry, even night temperatures are not falling,” he said.
However, Kulsreshtha said: “Anti-cyclonic activity is showing some signs of relenting and is moving towards the eastern side of Central India. So, in the next few days there might be some fall in temperature. There is no sign of rains in the immediate future.”
On Thursday, the minimum temperature in Lucknow was 14.8 degree Celsius, five degree above the normal. The maximum temperature was almost 30 degrees with direct sun throughout the day. On Wednesday, the minimum temperature was 14.4 degree Celsius, which was four degree above the normal. Pune’s minimum temperature on Thursday was 12.1 degree Celsius; Jaipur was 10.9 degrees, Patna 13.3 degree, and Ahmedabad 13.9 degrees Celsius. Banglore’s minimum temperature on the same day was 15.2 degrees, Hyderabad’s 15.4, and Nagpur 16.4 degree Celsius.
Under the all India weather forecast till December 11—this is the prediction for Northwest India and East India regions under which UP falls: Northwest India: Mainly dry weather during next the 48 hours.
Snowfall likely over Western Himalyan region and isolated rain/thunder showers likely over Punjab and Haryana on December 10. For East India: Mainly dry weather is likely over the region. But, isolated rain/thundershowers are likely over east Uttar Pradesh on December 11.”
People, obviously, are complaining.
