“We have allotted them few more days, as they demanded in writing, to pay the bills. However, we have kept the time frame flexible without giving a specific date,” said Dr Ravindra Ghawat, senior intensivist.

The authorities added that there has been no significant change in the condition of Mahajan, brother of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, and he is still on life support system.

“There is no way we can predict any change in Mahajan’s condition, it can take days or months to show any change,” added Ghawat.

Mahajan’s family, however, denied that it has given any such credit note or written an application.

“We had only verbally asked them once. However, there is nothing in writing. Moreover, we are waiting for the state’s response until which we won’t be paying any charges. We are still on credit roll and the hospital hasn’t submitted any bills to us.

“We will take the final decision only after the government’s directives,” said Prasad Puliwar, Mahajan’s brother-in-law.

The hospital authorities said it has not received any directives from the state government.

“We haven’t got any directives from the state. Several officials have already checked on his condition.

However, we did not get any response from them. The family has admitted him to us, so as of now, we will be charging the bill to the family.

However, since they have asked for time we will wait for a few days,” said Shilpa Tatake, general manager, critical care.
