"We had very positive talks. We hope to have another round of talks. We are near a solution", Congress general secretary Margaret Alva said after a two-hour long talks senior Congress leaders had with NCP leader Praful Patel at Defence Minister Pranab Mukherjee's residence.

The government would be in place in two days, she said.

Praful Patel later left to brief NCP leader Sharad Pawar. The next round of talks with the NCP leader is expected on Saturday night.

Asked whether the issue of chief ministership is settled, political secretary to Congress president Ahmed Patel said "not yet".
