According to police, M Y Chaudhary, 61, a resident of 38/22, Bab-e-Aali, was shot at when he had gone out for the morning prayers at the nearby mosque.
He was closing the gate of his house on return when a youth fired at him. Chaudhary shouted for help and his family members rushed out. The assailant ran towards a corner where a motorcycle-borne youth was waiting for him and the duo fled from the spot.
The police were informed and the victim was provided treatment. The pellets had pierced into the back of his shoulder and neck. The condition of Chaudhary is reported to be out of danger. He has named two persons as suspects with whom he had an enmity.
One of the persons he has named as suspect has been a Congress and Samajwadi Party leader in the past but has now left both the parties. Chaudhary brings out a news magazine. The Shahejehanabad police had registered a case of attempt to murder against the unidentified persons. The investigations were in progress.
