Leaders of leading NGOs, including the United Committee of Manipur (UCM), All Manipur United Clubs' Organisations (AMUCO) and the All Manipur Students' Union participated in the meeting.

Freedom editor RK Ranendrajit said that journalists should not fear anything and "face what may come one's way". He said no organisation, whether underground or NGOs should pressure media persons to publish news.

All Manipur Bar Association president and noted human rights activist Khaidem Mani Singh, who chaired the meeting, spoke out against "elements that interfere with the working of the media".
