Maoist guerrillas have blown up a major portion of a railway station in Chhattisgarh on Sunday.

The rebels blasted the Bhansi railway station in Dantewada district, 425 kilometre south of Raipur, at 3 am, Additional Director General of Police Sant Kumar Paswan said.

No one was killed, but the blast damaged an electrical engine and a major portion of the platform.

In a separate incident in the same district, Communist Party of India (Maoist) cadres shot dead a police constable in full public view on Saturday evening.

Constable Jaisingh Thakur was shot dead in a weekly market in the tribal stronghold Bainur area, 438 kilometre south of Raipur, Bastar range Inspector General MW Ansari said.
