New father and lead singer of Coldplay Chris Martin is expected to return to the studio to record the band's fourth album by the end of the year.

According to contactmusic.com, Martin had expected to take time out but has promised the band that he will come back to work sooner than he had promised despite the birth of his son Moses earlier this month.

Bassist Guy Berryman says: "We hope to have something together by January. We are going to make sure with our new album that everyone remembers why Coldplay are one of the best bands in the world."
