Youth Congress national president Ashok Tanwar, while speaking at the Kisan Rally organised by the wing’s district president Jeetu Patwari, labelled the State Government as a failure, as it had reneged on its election promises and failed on the development front despite three years in power.

‘‘The BJP has betrayed the trust of the people who voted them to power with an overwhelming majority and despite having a free hand in functioning failed miserably in winning hearts of the populace and translating their words into deeds.’’

He said that crime and corruption have touched an all-time high and the State has been unable to implement various Central schemes for public welfare. He asked the public to keep tabs on the crores released in funds by the Centre the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM). He exhorted the youths to become more aware about their rights and make
judicious use of empowering tools like Right to Information Act (RTI).

State Congress president Subhash Yadav said that not only were the problems of road-electricity-water still prevalent, but the law and order situation had also taken a turn for the worse with the complicity of the government and its functionaries in several incidents including Professor Sabharwal’s murder in Ujjain.

Talking about the objective of the rally and dharna, Jeetu Patwari said that the condition of farmers was going from bad to worse, as they were still subject to the vagaries of nature and face exploitation from all quarters including being provided spurious seed and receiving nothing for their hard work as their produce is bought by traders at low cost.

Former State Congress president Radhakishan Malviya, Mahila Congress leader Shobha Oza, MLAs Premchand Guddu, Antar Singh Darbar and Ashwin Joshi, Rajyavardhan Singh Dattigaon and other local leaders including Hemant Pal, Manoj Sule, Sheikh Alim and Yogita Chaudhary attended the demonstration cum Kisan Sammelan.

YC stages Jan Chetna rally
A JAN Chetna Rally was taken out by Youth Congress under the leadership of national president Ashok Tanwar against the failures of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led State government from Gandhi Bhawan to Divisional Commissioner office.

Tanwar exhorted youth to reach out to the masses by starting a door-to-door campaign and highlighting the failures of the State Government.

‘‘Persons associated with the party recently stormed the office of a police station in-charge and did not vacate it despite the presence of senior police officials indicating the position they have assigned to law and order and its maintaining agencies.

The hypocrisy of the partymen is not limited to making a joke of the law but also in terrorising the public be it in the form of the killing of Professor Sabharwal or in the party dominated Indore Municipal corporation (IMC) levying extra water cess without even providing water.’’

Youth Congress City president Devendra Yadav said the activists demanded dismissal of the government on the grounds of misrule and staged a ‘satyagrah’ in front of Divisional Commissioner office. A memorandum addressed to the Governor was submitted to the officials.

The holding of two functions simultaneously in the City and near vicinity (Rau) also indicated towards internal dissension within the party folds, which was being consistently denied by high-level party functionaries.
