It may be noted that it was a dispute over Bharat Milap which had triggered communal violence in Mau last year. Due to the communal violence, the function of Bharat Milap was postponed and it was decided that this function would be held from February 12 to 18 this year in Mau.

Sources said that now the Mau district administration was reluctant to allow the office-bearers of Sri Ram Leela Mela Samiti to conduct the Bharat Milap function.

As per information, the Mau district administration now wanted to conduct the Zila Panchayat election (which was also postponed due to the communal violence) instead of Bharat Milap.

Sources said that the District Magistrate had forwarded a letter to the Election Commission seeking permission to conduct the Zila Panchayat election from February 16 to 23. Though the Mau district administration has got no reply from the Election Commission till now, the members of the Mela Samiti are annoyed with the district administration for postponing the Bharat Milap programme.

Chairman of Sri Ram Leela Mela Samiti in Mau, Lakshendra Vikram Singh has warned the district administration as well as the state government of a massive protest in case the proposed Bharat Milap was not conducted within the scheduled timeframe. The decision to start the agitation was taken in a meeting of the members of the Samiti in Mau on Monday.Singh has even warned the state government of a massive demonstration outside the Vidhan Bhawan in Lucknow in case their demands were not entertained. Sources said that the Mau district administration was now willing to conduct Bharat Milap after the UP Board examination.
