Mayank, Amit get Young Scientist Award

MAYANK THAKUR and Amit Goyal, students of Pharmacy Department, Dr Hari Singh Gour University, were presented Young Scientist Award for 2006. Amit Goyal had worked under the HoD professor S P Vyas and Mayank Thakur completed his research under professor V K Dixit.

Mayank Thakur discovered drug for the hepatitis–B disease, it is one time dose and is claimed to be cheaper than the present market formulation. The drug is nanotechnology and biotechnology-based formulation. The new drug is claimed to be powder based and it is not mandatory to keep it at low temperature and is a single dose drug.

Vyas said till date 16 students of the department bagged the young scientists’ awards. This year four students, two each from Madhya Pradesh and Chattisgarh, won the award.
