Built at a cost of Rs 300 crore, former chief minister Mayawati’s dream schools — Mahamaya Girls’ Inter College in Sector 44 and Panchsheel Boys’ Inter College in Sector 91 of Noida – have been struggling for authority’s attention.
Besides facing sewage and other civic problems, hostels for students built inside these schools lack beds and furniture.
“There are only 350 beds for 450 students in my hostel. Students have to share beds because of the gap in demand and supply. Students have to face inconveniences every day,” said the principal of one of the schools.
Teachers of these schools said they had been coming to meet the CEO at the authority office for the last one week. But the chief executive officer (CEO) Sanjeev Saran could not spare some time from his busy schedule. Therefore, the issues stayed unaddressed.
“Earlier, there was the model code of conduct and then the delay in appointing the CEO. The matter of sewer and beds besides other furniture did not resolve,” said a teacher.
The chief project engineer, Noida authority, Santram Singh, said all the problems will be resolved soon. “We will float tenders to procure more beds and furniture for the hostels. Sewage issue will also be resolved at the earliest. We will try to arrange all the needed facilities within next 15 days so that students do not face problems,” Singh said.
