"The sleuths of south zone Task Force apprehended Khaja Mohammed Mujeebuddin alias Mujeeb, a second-year MBA student, Mohd Luqman and Mohd Jaffar Patel alias Jaffar", said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Detective Department) LKV Ranga Rao.
Four other accused, who have been identified for their role in the arson, are absconding and police have widened the dragnet to nab them, he said.
Police said the arrested trio, along with four others, went on a rampage and set ablaze six cars near the Andhra Pradesh high court in Ghansibazar, with an intention to create panic and communal tension, in the wee hours on November 19 last, even as the city was limping back to normalcy in the aftermath of violence over the temple abutting historic Charminar.
