Mehar sleeps..., you wake up!

Mehar is no more. But, her cry for justice gets many voices. The city talked her everywhere.
‘How many Mehars do we need to wake up the powers that be? Govt is responsible for her death? Hang her killer! Why don’t cops work out such cases? Nobody is safe, what will happen? Is government sleeping? If this is the fate of a known figure then what about the common man?’
Many such voices rose from every city corner and echoed in HT Lucknow Live through phones and SMSs.
The voices may subside before they reach the corridors of power, but they surely show people are waking up and want you to wake up!
Mehar symbolised courage. Her sacrifice should not go waste. For me she is a martyr who deserves a salute from every Lucknowite.
Not only should the killers of Mehar be arrested but so should be the mafia dons protecting them.
People of our country ‘sathiya gaye hai’ since 1947 which is almost 60 years. We have stopped fighting for a cause. Lets wake up and fight for another cause such as Mehar. Fight against this breed of politics of murder, rape, corruption, criminals. Let’s all of us become Gandhi’s of 21st century. Let this be a message to Home Secretary, DGP and SSP, commonman and women.
We pray to Allah for peaceful abode in heaven for brave courageous Mehar. Brickbats for government and cabinet of thugs.
One avoids even speaking to offenders even in front of your own house, least you are shot or abused. Shame to politicians, government and police.
Does standing up for one’s rights means death/murder? If yes, then I have nothing to protest about!
Best justice we can offer to Mehar and the likes is to give our lives for the cause of independence against criminals in politics.
She is dead. Jessica also died. The time has come to shoot and kill all these ‘criminals’ as we all know that there is nothing like law.
The system too has an equal share as the culprits in the brutal murder of Jessica or Mehar! System too is responsible.
—Saif Ali Khan
Inaction of the police is unforgivable. Call Navneet Seikera back and get some real action.
Unless we rise to tackle this heinous act, Mehar will go down as just another case. Justice needs to be delivered. Just anyone can be the next victim. Together we got to fight the people and system responsible.
Why wait for orders. Killers are identified. You have power to hunt and kill them. It could have been any one of us in place of Mehar.
How long do we have to endure this? For how long can we allow this to go on?
A prayer meet be held for Mehar just like the one held in Delhi for Jessica. Let the guilty know that they cannot escape public condemnation. Politicians be damned.
We all know that in India justice delayed is justice denied! But can you please make an exception this time and restore our faith!
Let justice be done to Mehar’s soul now. Mehar is dead but at least the police should wake up. Or are they dead as well? Personally, I have no faith in the system.
How long are goons to hold law at bay? Are police for upholders of morality or goons?
Enough has been said. Now let us wake up and do something. Let a group of two lakh responsible citizens do work on grass root levels to fight the system. Vote against all the existing parties. And create a new party of educated people with no criminal background.
As long as our police will remain and act as concubines, pimps and puppets of politicians, we are never safe in UP. Wake up!
—Dr Sudha Rastogi
If city police would be acting in this way then more Mehar will lose their lives. It’s very very shocking.
If an influential family cannot get justice, what will happen to common man
Who will bridle the unbridled power that be and their protected criminals? And how and when? You speak our mind.
Arrest those police officials who did not conduct proper enquiry.
The assailants should be booked under law so that common man’s trust is restored.
If the political and administrative machinery really ‘wills’, no criminal or lawbreaker is above the state, the assailants can be booked within two hours of crime committed, but the political masters have their own compulsions to asylum these people to remain clinging to power.
The culprists should be punished so that the masses’ trust in the legislative and administrative machinery of the state remains.
It’s truly sad. It exposes UP Govt’s old stand— “Guilty! So what? Apna bachcha hai”..
Yeh joh public hai, yeh sab janti hai! You have to prove yourself Mr SSP, Lucknow. By just removing some unauthorised ice-cream hawkers, you can’t prove your power. Do something, some real work!
Justice must be done and the guilty punished at any cost.
An awakening call to all good Samaritans…Wake up for the sake of your future generations or else rascals will not let them live.
It’s shocking and a disgrace to our society. This shows how safe a normal human being is. It’s time to get up and ask for justice for Meharji’s soul.
Deepest condolences. Hang the culprits, assailants, police and dirty politicians in government. May God bring peace to Mehar’s soul.
I am very much anguished to see the bad condition of the law and order in the state. The High Court should interfere and take it up as a PIL as the politicians are acting indifferent.
How many more Mehar Bhargavas are needed to wake up the government? When will the government wake up to give us law and order?
The Chief Minister is supporting the criminals. It is a complete failure of the law and order. The government can’t even protect the VIPs, how can it protect the common man?
—Mohd Aleem Siddiqui
The culprits should be punished. They should not be given any protection.
Mehar’s death has definitely set an example of bravery for others to follow. Police should take firm action to instill fear in criminals’ mind.
Dr Suresh Talwar
This case is an acid attack on law and order conditions of the State and there is laxity shown on the part of the police in nabbing the culprits who are still at large.
