The UPA government struggled to table the bill as legislators opposed to the new state of Telangana tried to rip out the speaker's microphone while one unleashed a can of capsicum spray.

HT conducted an online poll asking if any issue could justify the behavior exhibited by the Andhra MPs in the Lok Sabha.

Of the 2,418 people surveyed by 9:45pm on Thursday, 53% people responded that the Andhra MPs behaved in an unruly fashion, while 45% people felt that their behaviour was justified. A mere 2% of those who took the poll didn't have an opinion of what happened in the Parliament.

The pepper spray left several parliamentarians, staff and journalists coughing and teary-eyed. Many MPs tried to rush outside to avoid the smell and chemical effects of the spray.

Doctors were called and three MPs were taken to hospital.
