MPs link Afzal’s hanging to blasts

The insensitivity of the government’s decision to hang Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru was raised in Lok Sabha on Friday during the debate on twin bomb blasts in Hyderabad.

NDA convenor and JD(U) member Sharad Yadav said the twin blasts were possibly the aftermath of the government’s insensitivity towards Afzal Guru’s family. “The way government handled his hanging shows the government is in disarray,” he said.

Yadav said that the government should have atleast allowed his family to meet him before he was hanged and added that the law was equal for everyone.

Gurudas Dasgupta of CPI said that the government has committed human right violations by not allowing his family to meet him. “The government should have been more sensitive,” he added.

Anant Geete of Shiv Sena had a different take and said one shouldn’t link “terror with emotions”.
