Muallim Degree Holders’ Association president Hesamuddin Siddiqui said a lakh unemployed Muallims would launch a drive to expose the “real face” of Khan.
He said the Samajwadi Party would face the consequences of the minister’s remark.

Association State secretary Shamshad Ahmad said despite Khan’s claims, establishment of the Maulana Mohammed Ali Jauhar University would not pave the way for uplift of the minority community.

They demanded that since Khan believed the degree was a fake one, he should take the initiative to close down the Jamia Urdu Aligarh, which provided Muallim and other degrees.

The association demanded recruitment of unemployed Muallim degree holders at government primary schools and termed the two-year Urdu BTC training as drama.

They said there was no guarantee that after completing training, applicants would be appointed as assistant teachers.

Siddiqui and Ahmad said the State Government had issued GO number 1976/15-3-6/14-6-63/94 and had recognised Jamia Urdu Muallim Urdu as equivalent to the Urdu BTC. They further said recently the Allahabad High Court had delivered a verdict giving the Muallim-e-Urdu degree a status equal to that of Urdu BTC training. Ahmad recalled that in the year 2004, Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav had promised to recruit Muallim-e-Urdu degree holders as primary schools teachers, but failed to fulfil it.

About 5000 Urdu teachers and Urdu translators were recruited by the Mulayam Singh Yadav Government in 1995 on the basis of the same Muallim-e-Urdu degree.
