Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Mulayam Singh Yadav on Monday promised Uttar Pradesh youth jobs or unemployment allowance if his party was voted to power in the coming assembly polls.
He added his government would also conduct an inquiry into “irregularities” by the incumbent BSP government.
Addressing a rally in Sitapur, 90 km northwest of Lucknow, Yadav said the unemployment allowance this time would be double the Rs 500 per month stipend his government had paid jobless youth the last time it was in charge (2003-2007).
Continuing the promise shower, he announced his government would provide free electricity to weavers and farmers and waive farmers’ loans of up to Rs 50,000. Education and health too found a mention. “We will provide free education to one and all up to post-graduation. Medicines are costly and out of reach of common people, so...treatment will be free.”
He also announced flood allowance and compensation to farmers. Slamming chief minister Mayawati, Yadav said, "Machines have been installed to count money at Kalidas Marg residence (of the CM). Under this government, Dalits did not benefit despite the CM being a Dalit ki beti. What have people got out of these stones (statues) installed with public money? The Centre too keeps an eye upon the loot in Uttar Pradesh but does not act."

He said the Centre had talked about 4.5% reservation for Muslims, but the proposal tabled in Parliament was presented as reservation for minorities, where the share of Muslims was 0.8%.
