The film Ab Tak Chappan was based on his life.
The order was served on him at his Kandivli residence.
Police Commissioner Hasan Gafoor told HT that Sharma’s dismissal was effected on the basis of his ‘past record’. He refused to pinpoint any particular instance linking Sharma to the underworld.
Sharma is reported to have killed 112 people in shooutouts, most of them gangsters and some terrorists.
Sources in the Mumbai police say Sharma was nailed in a string of inquiries instituted against him of late.
