Several meetings were held in a number of American cities by Muslim organisations across the US after Eid prayers, in which the assembled people condemned the deadly strikes on the metropolis and pledged to fight religious extremism.

Addressing the meeting in New York, they also expressed hope that India would also take action against the "Hindu militants groups" suspected in the recent anti-Christian and anti-Muslim activities.

President of the Islamic Center of Long Island, a suburb of New York, Habeeb Ahmed also congratulated the people of India for not allowing to let extremist groups politicise the "heinous attacks" in Mumbai in the just concluded Assembly elections.
