The estranged husband of Nadia Torrado, in whose death case former Goa Tourism Minister Fransisco Pacheco is the prime suspect, on Thursday withdrew his anticipatory bail application from the district court in Panaji.
Wilson Barretto was questioned earlier this week by Crime Branch in connection with the death of his 28-year-old wife, who allegedly consumed poison last month.
Fearing arrest in the case, he had moved the court for anticipatory bail.
Barretto has expressed faith in the probe being carried out by Crime Branch of Goa Police. Barretto's lawyer said his client expected a fair investigation into the matter as the case has been handed over to a specialised agency.
"The anticipatory bail application was filed when the case was being investigated by Maina Curtorim Police Station. But since the case has been handed over to Crime Branch, my client wishes to withdraw his anticipatory bail plea," he said.
Barretto had filed for divorce in 2007.
Nadia was a close friend of Pacheco, who resigned on June 5 over allegations of his involvement in her death. The 46-year-old NCP legislator was questioned by Crime Branch on June 4.
Nadia, who allegedly consumed rat poison, was treated at Mumbai and Chennai hospitals before she died on May 30.
