Naxalite attack: police arrest 13 naxalites

The Gadchiroli police have finally succeeded to nab 13 naxalites who were responsible for the gunning down 15 police personnel, including a PSI near Markegaon in the district on February 1, reoprts Pradip Kumar Maitra.

The Gadchiroli police have finally succeeded to nab 13 naxalites who were responsible for the gunning down 15 police personnel, including a PSI near Markegaon in the district on February 1.

Informing this, Rajesh Pradhan, the superintendent of police (SP), Gadchiroli district, claimed that arrested persons were part of attack. "They were nabbed by the police during the combing operation, launched on Sunday afternoon, immediately after the attack," he added.

The naxalites after killing the policemen, fled with eight AK-47, few self-loaded rifles, one pistol and huge arms and ammunitions.

According to Pradhan, the arrested alleged naxalites were arrested from three villages in the area, including Markegaon where the incident occurred on Sunday last.

Meanwhile, over 200 villagers of Markegaon are missing because of police repression.
