She said, “I will make sure that the victim is rehabilitated in a proper manner. I want to talk to her father and find out his requirements. The girl’s rehabilitation is of utmost importance. That apart, we must ensure she gets proper education and a congenial environment. I will ask the father if he wants to take the girl back home. We have guidelines in NCW for rehabilitation of rape victims.”
“Besides, we want action against the doctors who prepared the medical report. The report that we received also stated that the girl bore cigarette marks on her body; however, the doctor’s report does not say so. I am happy that the Medical Council of India is probing the issue,” she said.
Meanwhile, State Women’s Commission Chairperson Ranjana Bajpai said, “We are spending Rs 100 per month on the Aashiana rape victim who is staying at a protection home in Moti Nagar. We make sure that she gets good food, fruits and clothes. However, the victim’s father says that she does not get any special food or clothes. He says that she eats the same food given to the other girls. In the beginning, she was given a glass of milk but that has been discontinued.”
Bajpai added, “The victim’s father does not come to meet us at all. Neither has he ever put forth his problems nor approached us with a request to withdraw the victim from the protection home.” However, the girl’s father Sabruddin said, “Initially, I did approach the SWC but when I did not get a response from them, I stopped going to them.”
