Neha Dhupia tells
Ritujaay Ghosh
on what draws her to comedies and why she's chosing different films these days.
What drew you to a film like
Mithya
?Well, I'm one of the central characters and I'm cast opposite Naseeruddin Shah.
Ah Naseer, working with him is a lure for any actor?
There's also Rajat (Kapoor). He's one of the few directors I know who can handle a good script.
Rajat Kapoor, Vinay Pathak and Ranvir Shorey are a team now.
Hey, I'm a part of that team too. I recently finished shooting another film with Rajat and Ranvir. I am 24 is a comedy too. I have four releases this year, all of them comedies.
You were earlier slotted as a sex symbol.
By doing so many laugh riots aren't you in danger of being stereotyped as a comedienne now?
I don't think that'll happen since all four films are different.
Mithya
is a comic thriller and I'm playing the villain's moll.
Raat Gayi Baat Gayi
and
I am 24,
both with Rajat and Ranvir, are romantic comedies and deal with relationships.
Sinngh is Kinng
is out-and-out
dhamaal
. There's an untitled Ashtavinayak project as well which is a fun film with a thrill element.
After
Ek Challis ki Last Local
I have been getting some meaty and meaningful roles. Earlier, I had taken a few wrong decisions. You learn from your mistakes.
So is sex and sizzle strictly a no-no now?
I'm open to doing romantic films. But the ones I've been offered recently weren't very interesting.
