The 84-year-old has been discharged from Gangalal hospital as per the advice of the doctors at 2.30 pm, his nephew and Nepali Congress central member Sekhar Koirala said.
There has been significant improvement in his health, his doctors said.
His treatment will continue at the Prime Minister's quarters at Baluwatar.
The veteran leader was admitted in hospital on July 3 after he complained of breathing difficulties.
He will, however, still need oxygen support and it will take him a few more days to resume official duties, his personal aides said.
Koirala had flown to Thailand late last month where he received laser prostate treatment.
