Additional general coaches would be connected to passenger train coaches to reduce the crowd in general coaches.

“The North Eastern Railways would also focus on the facilities of common passengers apart from the passengers of sleeper and other higher classes. Small shelters with shed for a group of six to eight passengers would be constructed by the railways on around 400 stations of the NER falling under Varanasi, Lucknow and Izzat Nagar divisions. This project would be completed within two months,” he said.

Talking to mediapersons here, GM Shailendra Tripahti on Thursday said a scene of dirtiness and a long queue of passengers waiting to buy tickets is a routine features on major stations of NER. Efforts are being made to sort out this problem at the earliest.

As part of passengers facility, free of cost ‘Real Portable Water’ would be served to the passengers of NER from the platforms soon, he said.

Speaking over the income of NER, he said, there was imbalance between expenditure and income. Freight loading of NER was partial.

An action plan would be soon chalked out to raise the income through freight booking. Checking teams would be strengthened to check passengers travelling without tickets.

As part of curtailing its expenses, an effort is being made to reduce the consumption of energy by 15 to 20 per cent.

It has come to light that some trains were overcrowded and some were carrying fewer passengers. This imbalance would be checked. The GM claimed that the complete scenario of NER would be changed within two months.

Earlier, the GM also held discussions with the DRM of Varanasi division Shailendra Tripathi and the senior commercial manager Ravi Chaturvedi.
