Netaji?s close associate Dhillon passes away

VETERAN FREEDOM fighter and close associate of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Colonel Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon passed away at the age of 93 following prolonged illness here on Monday.

VETERAN FREEDOM fighter and close associate of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose, Colonel Gurbaksh Singh Dhillon passed away at the age of 93 following prolonged illness here on Monday. Shivpuri resident Col Dhillon is survived by two sons and a daughter. He was suffering from heart-lung complications.

Jayarogya Hospital Superintendent Jyoti Bindal said, "He was undergoing treatment for a month.” “The end came at 1400 hrs today." The last rites would be performed at Shivpuri on Wednesday. Senior physicians including cardio specialists were attending on him at ICU, hospital sources said.

His daughter Dr Amrita Mehrotra is the head of department of trauma center at JA Hospital. Col Dhillon was brought to Gwalior from Shivpuri on January 2 after complaints of falling health there.

He was initially admitted in District Hospital Shivpuri but doctors later referred him to Gwalior in view of better medical facilities. Colonel Dhillon was one of the founder members of Azad Hind Fauz.
