Speaking at a function on the occasion, university Vice-Chancellor Achyutanand Mishra said standards of journalism might have changed over the time but it continued to be a profession of continuous struggle in pursuit of truth and justice.
Producer of Hindi news channel ‘Aaj Tak’ Ramkripal Singh, managing editor of Hindi news channel IBN 7 Ashutosh, editor of Hindi magazine ‘Aha Zindagi’ Yashwant Vyas, editor BAG Films Ajit Anjum and election analyst Yashwant Deshmukh also attended the function.
Addressing the students, Ramkripal Singh said there seemed to be unanimity on none of the social issues and in the same way there was no unanimity over values of journalism and repercussions of market pressure over the profession.
Stating that youth of the country seem to have lost direction, Ashutosh said Market should not be a source of fear but a challenge to be encountered.
Ajit Anjum said that profession of journalism was wrought with immense struggle and insecurity but it always has a place for talented people.
Yashwant Deshmukh spoke about nuances of election analysis and also announced an annual fellowship for a student of the university on the subject.
Yashwant Vyas felt that Indian culture always has had some eternal values, which should not be compared to western culture and ethics.
